the influence of the neo-platonic concept of poetic imagination on wordsworth’s poetry
Dibutyryl cyclic AMP and forskolin inhibit phosphatidylinositol hydrolysis, Ca2+ influx and contraction in vascular smooth muscle.
Dibutyryl cyclic AMP and forskolin inhibited the contraction induced by norepinephrine (NE) more strongly than the high K(+)-induced contraction in isolated rat aorta. These inhibitors inhibited the 45Ca2+ influx stimulated by NE but not that by high K+, and they inhibited NE-induced inositol monophosphate accumulation. These results suggest that cAMP inhibits NE-induced contraction, at least p...
متن کاملInfluence of Glucose on the Transmembrane Action Potential of Guinea-Pig Papillary Muscle
In a previous report, we have proposed that anaerobic glycolysis alone can maintain an action potential of normal duration in guinea-pig papillary muscle. This proposal followed from the observation that 50 m\i glucose, several sympathomimetic amines, and aminophylline all caused the duration of the action potential of muscles, which had been reduced by incubation in a medium containing 5 mM gl...

متن کاملCold acclimation of guinea pig depressed contraction of cardiac papillary muscle.
Guinea pigs were exposed to 5 degrees C for 3 wk, and the contractions of myocardial papillary muscle were compared with preparations dissected from control animals kept at approximately 25 degrees C. Developed tension of the papillary muscle per cross-sectional area was significantly (t-test, P < 0.05) decreased after cold exposure (19,200 +/- 8,160 vs. 3,020 +/- 2,890 dyne/cm2; 1 Hz). Time to...
